EEB - Nature restoration takes off: mid-term assessment of National Restoration Plans

A new NGO-led evaluation finds that implementation of the Nature Restoration Law (NRL) is underway in most Member States, marking a crucial first step towards repairing Europe’s degraded ecosystems. With National Restoration Plans (NRPs)[1] taking shape across the EU, success now hinges on political leadership, proper resourcing and broad stakeholder backing.

EEB - Crafting an energy-efficient Europe

Europe is tackling CO₂ emissions with a dual approach: increasing renewable energy and decreasing energy consumption. While renewables often steal the spotlight, energy efficiency tends to take a back seat despite its crucial role in Europe’s strategic goals. A new policy simulator aims to change this perception by illustrating the impact of energy-saving measures on the economy, wellbeing, environment and climate.

IUCN Director General's Statement for World Ocean Day

The ocean is a world with three dimensions. The first is depth, from the tides lapping at our feet on a beach to the marine trenches that plunge far into a realm untouched by sunlight. The second is length, with waves that travel thousands of miles between North Pole and South. The third is width, an immense body of saltwater enveloping the entire globe, coursing unbroken for more than 40,000 kilometres.
